As The Renegade Coder continues to grow and expand, I’ve decided to launch a new category to document some of my experiences as a teacher. Meet the Teach category!
Table of Contents
Growing as a Teacher
I’ve been teaching in various capacities for about five years now, and my website is more or less built for education. However, up until recently, I haven’t really felt confident enough to share some of my strategies. Instead, most of my content has been geared toward students.
However, now that I’ve finally gotten a chance to work in front of the classroom, I figured I could share what’s worked and what hasn’t. Naturally, I’ve started by sharing a few reflections over the past year, but I plan to move forward with a lot more technical content like How to Teach Arrays.
My goal moving forward is to share resources that I’ve found helpful over the past year or so. These may include visual aids, activities, or other resources. If there’s anything you’d like to see shared, let me know!
Other Changes
Since it’s been awhile since I’ve written an update, I should share a few of the changes on the website.
For starters, I renamed the updates category to meta. I did that because sometimes I want to write about the site and not necessarily share an update. For example, my 5 Ways to Show Support article is in the meta category because I want it public.
Also, I changed the size of the font on the website. I don’t know what it was before, but now it’s bigger: 16pt. As a result, my website should feel a bit more accessible. At least, that’s the goal!
In addition, I also started adding descriptions to some of my more popular tags. Now, when you visit a tag page, you should see a description at the top of the page like you would with categories and series.
Other than that, I haven’t really changed much except I did make some updates according to some feedback I got on dev.to. To summarize, I’ve tried to improve some the membership features on the site. If I figure out how to fix all of their complaints, I’ll make a new article featuring all those changes.
It’s Summer!
And with that, I’ll leave you with this: happy summer! I’m planning to use the time to get ahead on work. I suggest you do the same!
