As you probably know, I've been trying to build up an online presence for about a year now. In fact, I purchased my first website on October 10th, 2016. However, I didn't start The Renegade Coder until April 20th, 2017. Since then, I have tried just about everything to make a buck including opening accounts for Patreon and Teachers Pay Teachers. The maintenance was a nightmare, and nothing really came of them. As a result I decided to simplify my life a bit and give focus to just The Renegade Coder. As a part of this simplification process, I have decided to offer computer science email tutoring through the site. Simplification When I first started almost a year ago, I did a lot of experimentation. After all, I had never had a site before, so I wanted to get a feel for what works and what doesn't. This basically meant that I tried every plugin and affiliate program under the sun. How's that for user experience? When I launched my second website, I decided to only use what I felt was necessary. Instead, I focused more on capabilities of the theme. This dramatically improved site usability and speed, so I was content. Unfortunately, I still wasn't getting any support. Naturally, this became a maintenance nightmare because I was effectively forced to run three websites instead of one. That's why I ultimately decided to get rid of them both and build up my own platform.
